HELLO, MY NAME IS MIKAYLA
I AM FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA- THE BETTER PART OF CALI ;) & MOVED TO ABERDEEN, SOUTH DAKOTA IN 2018 FOR COLLEGE. "WHY?" YOU ASK, WELL SOMETIMES I ASK THAT TOO. I FOUND MYSELF STUCK HERE BECAUSE I MET MY AMAZING HUSBAND AND WE NOW LIVE IN THE SIOUX FALLS AREA- WHO KNEW LOVE WOULD KEEP ME IN THE MIDWEST?! ASK ME HOW WE MET AND THAT ITSELF IS A CRAZY STORY! WE HAVE TWO DOGS- GOOSE AND MILLIE. I HAVE BEEN DOING PHOTOGRAPHY FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER AND NOW IN THE LAST YEAR HAVE PURSUED IT AS A CAREER.
My Style
As a photographer, my creativity can go anywhere. It's using the space and resources around me to create images that hopefully leave you in awe. I prefer to shoot outdoors (yes, even in the coldest winter) because I love utilizing any pocket of light to make the photos come alive- GIVE ME ALL THE SUN FLARES. With my editing, I try to minimize editing and prefer adding a warm touch to my images to help brighten them up- however, sometimes my images call for a different style and I let my creativity flow!
A Decade of Experience
My experience starts back in Middle School when I was gifted my first camera- I truly came alive. This went into high school in which they offered photography courses from beginner to advanced. I was able to work myself to the advanced class fairly quickly and became the lead sports photographer. After high school, I moved to a new state and found myself occupied with college soccer and nursing school that I did not have time for it as a hobby. I now find myself 3.5 years later coming back from this hiatus and full force throwing myself back into this passion that has laid dormant for far too long.
